POSITION TITLE: Activities Director
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month employment. Salary and work calendar to be established by the Board of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional Teaching Standards Board Certified.
- Experience and knowledge relative to operating Athletic and Activity Programs.
- Evidence of continued professional growth.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To administer a program of instructional supervision as pertains to Activities.
- To measure the growth of the Activities Program by local, state and national standards.
- To schedule and contract all activities and athletic contests for the District.
- To coordinate and supervise transportation for all activity and athletic trips.
- To supervise home contest management. This includes assignment of workers (timers, scorers, ticket sellers, ticket takers, etc.) as well as security.
- To obtain an inventory of all athletic equipment from the head coach of each sport, arrange for reconditioning of the same and organize future purchasing.
- To act as a liaison with the local medical profession to provide medical supervision at athletic contests.
- To arrange officials for all sports.
- To schedule practice and game facilities throughout the District.
- To coordinate the care and maintenance of athletic facilities with the Facilities Director.
- To organize with the various coaches and sponsors the various policies pertaining to their activities and print and distribute this information.
- To provide the business office with full data concerning all purchases of equipment and supplies.
- To operate in a public relations capacity as a representative of the District’s Activities Program.
- To coordinate and distribute information with news media as well as other public relations requests.
- To coordinate and direct such activity events as are allocated and assigned to the District. These activities include athletics, speech, music and dramatics on the District, Regional and State level.
- To keep informed of current research and findings of athletic equipment for the purpose of safety.
- To coordinate all assigned personnel in the area of coaching and sponsorship throughout the District.
- To assist with evaluations of all coaches.
- To provide leadership and coordination in the area of rules interpretation and eligibility of participants.
- To make recommendations concerning coaching employment and re-employment.
- To supervise budgets for each activity offered by the District.
- To prepare and approve requisitions for all basic equipment and supplies for athletics and activities.
- To prepare recommendations for capital outlay and improvement for all physical education and athletic areas and the surrounding grounds of the same.
The Activities Director will be accountable to the Superintendent for activity scheduling and the fulfillment of WHSAA responsibilities where the District is represented. |
